The Process

Each 16x20 duck art creation takes between 10-20 hours, and anywhere between 500-1000 ducks!

The Prep.

The canvas is primed with gesso, sealing the canvas to prevent degradation over time. Then every Duck piece is fully fleshed out - line work and painted. This provides our base and allows the primary characteristics of the subject to come through - even after the inevitable duck invasion.

The Commitment.

Each duck is glued by hand and placed meticulously to create the intended shapes and lines. The glue will begin to set, solidifying their position in just a few seconds. Any attempt for movement after that may damage the canvas.

The Layout.

In this phase, the ducks are laid out, usually multiple times, in order to visualize the color placement and search for the vibe we want coming through the piece.

The Reveal.

After curing for 24 hours, fine details are tuned and the painting is given multiple layers of sealant.
